HYDROSTATIC TESTING

Fox Fire is proud to be one of the few Department of Transportation (DOT) certified re-qualification facilities in Northern Indiana. Cylinders of all varieties are mandated to be “re-qualified” every so many years by OSHA, NFPA, and the Department of Transportation for everyone’s safety. It is a water pressurized test to confirm the structural integrity of the tank is still in good condition. We have the ability to conduct high and low pressure testing in our facility with excellent turn around times. Check out the cylinder schedule below for a list of tanks we can inspect and how often they should be done. Please note – a hydrostatic test does NOT take the place of a normal inspection. It’s better to ask than ignore.

Hydrotesting

5 Years: Stainless Steel (Soda Acid/Dry Chemical), Cartridge or Stored Pressure Water / Antifreeze, Foam, Loaded Stream, Carbon Dioxide. This includes SCBA, Scuba, Cascade, Beverage Tanks as well as certain fire extinguishers.

12 Years: Dry Chemical Stored Pressure or Cartridge Op, Clean Agent, Dry Powder Cartridge Op.

BEVERAGE TANK REFILL

We have the ability to fill and re-certify carbon dioxide beverage tanks typically used for soda machines and kegerators, up to 100lbs. The re-fill will take minutes and you’ll be on your way. If the cylinder is due for re-certification, we have the ability to perform the test in house too!

For businesses, give us a call if you are interested in discussing a CO2 tank fill program customized for you – 20lb and 50lb tanks are available. These services are limited to the South Bend / Mishawaka area for now, but keep a look out for this range to be extended in the future.

FIRE DEMONSTRATION

Fox Fire Safety offers on-the-job fire extinguisher training classes to keep you OSHA compliant and your employees informed about what to do when fire strikes. Our live fire training includes two sections – the first is a 15 – 30 minute instructional discussion where questions are strongly encouraged. The technician will go over extinguisher components, correct usage, and the different classes of fires with pamphlets for easy follow-along.

The second is where your employees will have the chance to utilize the P.A.S.S. techniques they just learned in class on a live fire. A controlled burn will be set up in a designated safe section of your parking area and our trained technician will supervise and instruct as each employee discharges an extinguisher at the fire. We can accommodate any business, large or small, but do recommend a class size of 15 – 25 people for the best experience. Give us a call today!

OSHA CFR Standards

If fire extinguishers are available for employee use, it is the employer's responsibility to educate employees on the principles and practices of using a fire extinguisher and the hazards associated with fighting small or developing fires. [29 CFR 1910.157(g)(1)] This education must be provided annually and when a new employee is first hired. [29 CFR 1910.157(g)(2)]

Employees who have been designated to use fire extinguishers as part of the emergency action plan, must be trained on how to use the fire extinguishers appropriately in the workplace. [29 CFR 1910.157(g)(3)] This training is a specialized form of education that focuses on developing or improving skills and it must be provided annually and when employees are first assigned these duties. [29 CFR 1910.157(g)(4)]
